Our veterinarian didn’t want to overwhelm her with extensive x-rays on the initial examination, so we went back for a follow up appointment to have her elbow examined. After x-rays and a radiological consult, it’s believed she may have elbow dysplasia.
Without a CT scan, we won’t be able to get a 100% diagnosis. This condition does not appear to bother her at this point, unless she plays and runs very hard.
Our veterinarian has recommended joint supplements and limited jumping/rough play. We will continue to monitor her for any changes.

Gilda’s foster update:
Her sweet little personality is coming out! She likes carrying and gathering things around the house. Tonight she decided to put all her toys and clothes from the basket in bed with her.
She’s doing really good and definitely feeling more comfortable and settled. She still loves her crate as her safe space and enjoys time in there with the door open.
Her puppyness is starting to come out. She’s been chewing on everything, so we’re doing lots of redirecting to appropriate chew toys. She has a liking for shoes, so she got some new bones tonight, hopefully they will keep her occupied. She got the “zoomies” for the first time the other night! It was so cute to see her enjoying herself so freely.

Meet Ellie - she came to us after what was thought to be a torn ACL. Upon intake, she was given full body x-rays and extensive exams due to her demeanor and fatigue. After a radiological consult, she was diagnosed with hypertrophic osteodystrophy. HOD is an autoimmune condition where the inflammation cuts off the blood supply to the bones and the bones can stop growing. We began treating her immediately with anti-inflammatories and pain medicine. After 24 to 36 hours, she was actually able to walk. She has since made great improvement in that area. But she was also diagnosed with a terrible case of puppy strangles, which is also another autoimmune condition. She had oozy pustules in her ears, on her belly, chin, eyes, and her lymph nodes were horribly swollen.
We had to wait to get the anti-inflammatories out of her system so that we could begin steroids. After a week of steroids, she is drastically improved on all fronts and is beginning to act like a seemingly normal healthy happy go lucky Golden puppy. We had to wait to get the anti-inflammatories out of her system so that we could begin steroids. After a week of steroids, she is drastically improved on all fronts and is beginning to act like a seemingly normal healthy happy go lucky Golden puppy. She has a perfect personality, she’s house trained, she is very eager to please, and is beyond precious. She is not available for adoption at this time as we are navigating her health concerns but if you see her and would like to donate or apply to adopt please feel free to do so.
